Noun [Old Novgorodian]

IPA: /ˈkʲɪrɪkɯ/ (note: c. 9ᵗʰ CE), /ˈkʲɪrʲɪkɯ/ (note: c. 11ᵗʰ CE), /ˈkʲɛrʲkɯ/ (note: c. 13ᵗʰ CE), /ˈkʲɛrʲkʲi/ (note: c. 15ᵗʰ CE)
Etymology: Inherited from Proto-Slavic *cьrky (from an earlier pre-palatalized form *kьrky) with typical secondary pleophony *TьrT > TьrьT. The most important feature of Old Novgorodian and Old Pskovian is the absence of the second palatalization of the velar *k, *g, *x in the position before *ě and *i, which were only softened to [kʲ], [ɡʲ], [xʲ]. First attested in the 13th century as крькъвь (krĭkŭvĭ, acc. sg.) and the second time in the 15th century as крькви (krĭkvi, voc. sg.). Displaced by цьркꙑ (cʹĭrky), from Old East Slavic. Cognates include Old East Slavic цьркꙑ (cĭrky), Old Ruthenian це́рковъ (cérkov), Old Church Slavonic црькꙑ (crĭky), Polabian carťai. "etymology_text": "Inherited from Proto-Slavic *cьrky (from an earlier pre-palatalized form *kьrky) with typical secondary pleophony *TьrT > TьrьT. The most important feature of Old Novgorodian and Old Pskovian is the absence of the second palatalization of the velar *k, *g, *x in the position before *ě and *i, which were only softened to [kʲ], [ɡʲ], [xʲ]. First attested in the 13th century as крькъвь (krĭkŭvĭ, acc. sg.) and the second time in the 15th century as крькви (krĭkvi, voc. sg.). Displaced by цьркꙑ (cʹĭrky), from Old East Slavic.\nCognates include Old East Slavic цьркꙑ (cĭrky), Old Ruthenian це́рковъ (cérkov), Old Church Slavonic црькꙑ (crĭky), Polabian carťai.",
